If your site has access to structured data—like teams, venues, games, or brands—data links and tags are tremendously helpful for search performance.
These tags and links help individual stories perform better in search results, and when used consistently over time, they show search engines that your site has a wealth of information on broader, commonly searched terms. That’s good for your site and your audiences, so we strongly encourage you to use these features.
- Head to the Tags section on Compose screen.
- To get automated suggestions, hit Suggest tags and links.
- To a tag manually, search for it in the relevant field. Tags can only be added if they already exist as structured data. Entering freeform tags is not permitted in the editor, as that can hurt search performance.
You can generate these links any time, even after publication. If you make significant changes to a story, you can also use the data link feature to suggest additional links.
Select the remove icon next to a specific tag, or select Remove all in the Tags section.
