Published stories are public by default, but there are a few ways to limit the audience:
- Add a password
- Hide the story from audiences
- Block the story from Apple News and RSS feeds
If you want to share a story with a smaller group of people, consider adding a password to it. This can be helpful for sharing sponsored content with a client before posting it widely, for example.
Add a password
- Open the story.
- Head to the Finalize screen.
- Expand the Advanced section.
- Enter a password in the Story password field.
- Select Disable Apple News and RSS to block the story from publishing to Apple News and RSS feeds.
- Select Do not index to tell search engines not to crawl the page.
- Hit Publish changes.
Note: To make sure your password-protected story is truly limited to those with the link, make sure any autotweets are turned off and any hubs are set to Don’t place.
Remove a password
When you’re ready to publish the story everywhere:
- Open the story.
- Head to the Finalize screen.
- Expand the Advanced section.
- Delete the password from the Story password field.
- Deselect Disable Apple News and RSS.
- Deselect Do not index.
- Hit Publish changes.
