We recommend keeping all of the files related to a project on Chorus Video, for tracking and analytics purposes. But if you’ve edited a video that’s already been uploaded to a project, you may need to replace the original file.
Replace a video on YouTube, Facebook, or Apple News
To replace a video on a third-party platform, you’ll need to send a new video and manually remove the first one from YouTube, Facebook, or Apple News.
- Open the video project.
- Upload the new file.
- Select Platforms.
- Hit New video.
- Select the file, thumbnail, and account.
- Hit Send.
- Head over to YouTube, Facebook, or Apple News to remove the older video and make the new video public. After the new video is public, it will display on the appropriate platform card automatically.
Note: Keeping the first video associated with this project in the Other videos table helps with analytics tracking. If the video was never live for audiences or it’s attached to the wrong project, select it in the Other videos table and hit Detach. The video will then appear in the Manage > Assets list.
Replace a syndicated video
- Open the video project.
- Upload the new file.
- Select Platforms.
- In the Syndicated section, select Replace.
- Select the file, thumbnail, and account.
- Hit Send.
Delete a file
If a video was never live or it was uploaded to a project in error, you can move it to the trash:
- Open the video project.
- Select Files.
- Find the file you want to delete.
- In the ellipsis menu, select Move to trash.
- Hit Delete to confirm.
The file will go into a holding place for now, but it will eventually be deleted. In the future, we’ll roll out a screen where you can manage deleted files and restore them like in the story editor.
Detach a video
Sometimes when you place a YouTube embed into a story, the wrong video will appear. This can happen with livestreams or videos with similar titles. If a YouTube video is being matched to an incorrect Chorus video project, you can correct this error by detaching the video and moving it to the correct project.
- Head to Platforms on the incorrect project that shows up when you try to embed the video in a story.
- Expand the Other videos section, and you should see the title of the YouTube video you're trying to embed.
- Copy the Video ID
- Select the title of the video and a sidebar should open up. In the sidebar, select Detach video
- Head to the Platforms page of the intended project, or create a new project if it does not exist yet.
- In the YouTube section, select Link other video and paste the Video ID you copied earlier. That should link the video to the correct project in Chorus Video and allow you to embed it appropriately in Chorus Video.
