When you want to update a story's URL, a redirect isn't needed: you can update the permalink to optimize it for search engines and audiences around the web. Chorus will automatically redirect the original URL to the new one when you publish the changes.
Situations where you may consider a redirect include:
- If you have a page that's similar or identical to another page (either on Chorus or not), you can set a canonical URL to let search engines know which one is preferred, but keep both URLs active.
- If you published a story by accident or want to retire certain content, you may want to hide a story and redirect it to your homepage or another story on your site.
- If you're updating the permalink of a group.
If you need a 301 redirect, please reach out to us with the URL you want to redirect from and the destination URL.
Redirects will work as described in this guide.
Your organization is responsible for maintaining your own redirects.
