If you’re hosting an audio file on Chorus—such as an MP3 recording of an interview or event—a text transcript is required. Automated captions from YouTube do not cover this requirement.
Transcripts are not required for podcasts but we highly recommend including them in related stories—like The Verge does with Decoder. Transcripts help with accessibility, user engagement, and SEO.
Most networks use Rev to create audio transcripts. Unlike videos, you’ll need to upload the file to their site directly.
You can share a transcript by:
- Including it in the body of a story (e.g, below the embed)
- Linking to a separate story
- Linking to an interactive transcript (e.g., election debate transcript with commentary)
