You can update a story’s byline, or add additional bylines for illustrators or photographers.
Author bylines
When you create a new story, your name will automatically populate in the byline field. To add or change the author:
- On the compose screen, select the Headlines section.
- Add someone to the Author byline by searching for their name or username. To be added, the user must have an active (not provisional) account, and must have freelance or higher permissions on the community you’re working on. You’ll see their username in parentheses so you can be certain you’ve selected the right person.
- To reorder a shared byline, remove one of the names and readd them in the order you’d like.
Additional bylines
There may be instances where you’ll want to give someone credit in a byline, but they don’t need a freelance account on your community. This person might be a one-time guest contributor, or an illustrator/photographer.
To give them credit without having to add a new freelance account, you can use the Additional bylines field to add a note about their contribution (e.g., Photos by Bill Cunningham).
Note: When all the images or illustrations in a story are credited to the same contributor, you may prefer to hide the credit on individual images.
