Managers can reset a user's two-factor authentication.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an important safety measure that protects our platform, accounts, and editorial content. There are some instances in which you’ll have to reset two-factor authentication for another user, usually if they get a new phone and don’t reset their own 2FA.
To reset two-factor authentication:
- Find the account.
- Select Inspect this user’s activity (magnifying glass icon).
- Select Reset 2FA.
- You’ll be taken back to the user table. Select Inspect this user’s activity again.
- If the 2FA status is provisional, they need to set up 2FA.
- If the 2FA status is disabled, their permissions expired due to inactivity. Update their permissions and then they’ll be prompted to set up 2FA.
Statuses
When you’re reviewing an account, you can see the two-factor authentication status. Anyone with author permissions or higher is required to have two-factor authentication enabled.
