Managers and moderators can reset another user's password.
You may need to reset a user’s password if they are unable to reset their own password. Ordinarily users should be able to reset their own password if they’ve forgotten it or are coming back after a leave. However, they may experience trouble if their email has changed or they’ve forgotten their username.
- Find the contributor’s account.
- Select Edit user info (pencil icon)
- In the Password and Password confirmation fields, fill in a temporary password for them. Hit Save.
- Select Inspect from the banner, or search for their account again and select Inspect this user’s activity (magnifying glass icon).
- Select Reset Password.
Your contributor will now be able to log in with the temporary password you created, and will be prompted to set up a new password for their account.
When helping someone log in, you may also want to double-check the username and email on the account to see if they need to be updated. We have more troubleshooting tips, or you can reach out to us any time.
