We love HTML, but it comes with trade-offs. Composing HTML that performs well, is accessible to those with disabilities, can be translated to partner platforms like Google AMP and Apple News, and looks good across all browsers and devices is not an easy feat.
We built Chorus to handle all of that so you can focus on sharing amazing stories.
Still, we know there are times when getting a particular video or interactive into your story is crucial to breaking news or creating a compelling experience for audiences.
Stories with HTML blocks may not work on every device or platform, but we trust you to weigh the pros and cons and decide what’s right for your audience in these situations.
Add an HTML block
If you need to include an object or embed that’s only available in HTML, select Insert > HTML block in the toolbar. Only HTTPS content is supported. HTML may prevent your story from publishing to platforms like Google AMP and Apple News, so proceed with caution.
Curly (or smart) quotation marks can cause issues in HTML blocks, so you may see an option to Convert curly quotes to straight ones.
Edit an HTML block by selecting Edit (or double clicking it) and making your changes. Cut and paste to adjust the placement of an HTML block in your story.
Remove an HTML block by selecting it and hitting delete or backspace.
Verify that your HTML meets accessibility guidelines and requirements. If you’re adding an image in an HTML block, make sure to include an alt attribute.
