Editors can manage groups.
Group descriptions display at the top of the group page.
Group descriptions work in tandem with group images. If a group has a title image and description, they’ll appear together in the body of the story when the group is set to primary. If the group only has a title image, the image will stand alone above the headline.
Your organization can set up group descriptions to display publicly, and set up SEO descriptions to increase search discovery.
To add a group description:
- From your homepage, open Quick Admin > Groups.
- Next to the group, select Edit group settings.
- Add the text in the Description field. Include relevant keywords in the description to give audiences and search engines more context about the group.
- Select Save.
Add a SEO description
While the group description is meant to appear on your site, the SEO description is an opportunity to entice potential audiences who find your group in search engines. The search description will often (but not always) display as the “snippet” of text below the group’s SEO name in search results.
Use natural language that would entice a visitor to click from a search results page. Don’t keyword stuff, but do consider the most relevant keywords for the group, and include them near the beginning of the description.
Aim for a description that is between 100 and 150 characters long, and make sure the description is unique for each group.
