Editors can manage groups.
News disclaimers are for stories with rapidly changing information.
News disclaimers will work as described in this guide.
Organizations using headless Chorus will have the option to set these up for their site.
This feature was developed during the Coronavirus pandemic, but you can use it for any group with developing coverage. We recommend using news disclaimers sparingly for editorial impact.
By default, they will display on stories within the group below the lead art. They will not display on maps or packages.
You can include HTML markup to style the disclaimer text with links or emphasis. Here’s an example:
Text | This story was last updated on [date]. The Coronavirus pandemic is a rapidly developing story. For all of our latest coverage, visit our Coronavirus hub. |
Markup | This story was <strong>last updated on [date]</strong>. The Coronavirus pandemic is a rapidly developing story. For all of our latest coverage, visit our <a href="/coronavirus-covid19">Coronavirus hub</a>. |
To add a news disclaimer:
- Open Quick Admin > Groups.
- Create a group or find the group you want to edit and select Edit group settings. If the group has subgroups, we recommend only adding a disclaimer to the parent group.
- In the News disclaimer field, add the disclaimer text you want to display on every related story. You can include HTML and the tag [date] to automatically render a story’s last updated date.
- Hit Save.
- If you don’t see the updates immediately, try republishing the latest story in the group.
